Building Project

The Humane Society of the Ochocos is currently working towards building a more suitable, permanent shelter to better care for our community’s animals and serve the population continuing long into the future.  The community animal shelter was built as a TEMPORARY building in 1995 … 27 years ago!  It is in now in dire need of replacement. We are currently in the planning and design stages, and look forward to sharing with you all the progress we’re making!

HSO is making progress on its dire need for a new facility. Help us build a future together!
Phase 1 is the Dog Wing which includes:
~nearly double the kennel space to keep pace with the population explosion of 47% since the original TEMPORARY building was constructed in 1995
~site preparation;
~proper HVAC for disease containment, odor control, and comfort;
~plumbing for commercial washing of laundry and kennels;
~grooming area;
~stray receiving and police hold area;
~isolation area;
~puppy nursing area
~kitchen for food and water prep
