Building Project

PHASE 1 CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE!!

The Humane Society of the Ochocos has finally achieved a more suitable, permanent dog shelter to better care for our community’s homeless dogs and serve the population continuing long into the future.  The original community animal shelter was built as a TEMPORARY building in 1995 … 28 years ago!

Working together we can achieve great things.

Phase 1 is the Dog Wing which includes:

~nearly double the kennel space to keep pace with the population explosion of 47% since the original TEMPORARY building was constructed in 1995
~site preparation;
~proper HVAC for disease containment, odor control, and comfort;
~plumbing for commercial washing of laundry and kennels;
~grooming area;
~stray receiving and police hold area;
~isolation area;
~puppy nursing area
~kitchen for food and water prep

Funding for animal welfare and, particularly, capital campaigns is incredibly hard to find, so a loan was required. If you’re interested in helping us offset this cost, please consider joining our community sponsorship.
